NTTC Member Spotlight: Eagle Transport Inspires the Next Generation Through Scouting
Every day, NTTC members deliver the essential products that keep America moving. But many companies across the tank truck industry are also investing time and energy into something just as important: developing the next generation of leaders and professionals. NTTC is proud to spotlight members who are helping young people learn about the industry and discover meaningful career opportunities.
Eagle Transport Corporation is one of those members making an impact.
In November 2025, Eagle Transport Terminal Manager Ben Fiore represented the company at the Greater Tampa Bay Area Council’s Merit Badge Academy, where hundreds of Scouts gathered to explore potential career paths. Fiore taught the Truck Transportation Merit Badge, one of the rarest badges in Scouting, giving Scouts a unique opportunity to learn about the logistics and transportation industry.
Together with Eagle Transport driver Steve Hayes, Fiore brought the experience to life through hands-on demonstrations using a petroleum tank truck. Scouts were able to see the equipment up close, learn about safety practices, and gain a real-world understanding of how the tank truck industry operates.
The experience goes far beyond a single event. Since 2023, Fiore’s ongoing commitment to Scouting has introduced more than 100 Scouts to the world of truck transportation. By providing access to real equipment, safety knowledge, and practical insights, Eagle Transport is helping young people better understand how the transportation industry plays a role in everyday life.
The initiative has helped build early awareness of career opportunities in trucking and logistics while strengthening Eagle Transport’s connection to the Tampa Bay community. At a time when the industry faces workforce challenges, efforts like this also help inspire the next generation of supply chain professionals.
For Fiore, the motivation is personal.
A lifelong Scout who first joined as a Cub Scout, he now stays involved as both a leader and a parent. When he realized the Truck Transportation Merit Badge was among the least-earned in the program, he saw an opportunity to share his professional experience while helping Scouts explore a new career path.
“Truck Transportation is currently one of the rarest merit badges, ranking 128th out of 138 in 2024,” Fiore said. “Having taught over 100 Scouts in the past couple of years, my goal is to make this a more popular badge. Merit badges are about more than just learning a subject; they are a vital tool for exposing young people to potential career paths.”
Beyond the classroom, Eagle Transport’s involvement allows Scouts to experience the professionalism, safety standards, and responsibilities that define the tank truck industry. For many participants, it is their first time seeing the equipment or learning how the industry works behind the scenes.
Efforts like this demonstrate how NTTC members are shaping the future of the industry while strengthening the communities they serve. By sharing knowledge, opening doors, and investing time in young people, companies like Eagle Transport are helping ensure the next generation understands both the opportunities and the importance of tank trucking.
